PEAX Backcountry Duo Hunting Headlamp FAQs

What makes the PEAX Duo Headlamp different from other hunting headlamps?

The PEAX Duo Headlamp is designed specifically for hunters who need both distance and flood lighting in one unit. It features dual-beam technology, allowing you to switch between a focused spot beam for tracking and a wide flood beam for camp tasks. Unlike standard headlamps, it balances brightness, battery efficiency, and durability for backcountry conditions.

How bright is the PEAX Duo Headlamp and is it enough for night tracking?

The PEAX Duo Headlamp delivers high-lumen output capable of illuminating trails, blood tracking, and terrain in complete darkness. The spot beam reaches long distances for glassing or navigation, while the flood beam provides softer, wide-angle light for close-range visibility without washing out detail.

How long does the battery last on the PEAX Duo Headlamp?

Battery life on the PEAX Duo Headlamp varies by mode but is optimized for extended hunts. Lower brightness settings can last multiple nights, while high-output modes are designed for shorter bursts when maximum visibility is needed. This flexibility makes it reliable for multi-day backcountry trips. See above specifications tab for run times in various modes.

Is the PEAX Duo Headlamp waterproof and durable for harsh conditions?

Yes, the PEAX Duo Headlamp is built for rugged hunting environments. It features weather-resistant construction that holds up in rain, snow, and cold temperatures. The durable housing ensures it can handle drops, pack abuse, and tough mountain conditions.

Great headlamp overall. It’s quite

"Great headlamp overall. It’s quite large and heavy though. The light pops out of the plastic holder pretty easy. The biggest problem is only select usb-c charger cords work with the unit so make sure you have the “peax” charging cable with you or verify your charging cable works with it. Maybe 1 in 5 of my cables work with it."

Best RED ever, but it's not a "perfect" hunting headlamp, imo.

"Strongest, best focused red light I've ever owned, and I've owned a lot of them. I could ride an e-bike on the high red setting, easily. Battery life is great. My biggest criticism of this light is that you can't cycle up and down through the three red settings, nor the 3 white beam settings, without cycling only 'down' through all of them. For example, if you start walking in the medium red setting, and you want the low setting for a while, you can't just push the control button once and have it go to low. You have to turn it off, back on, then quickly push the button again to get to Low. Then, if you decide you need to go up to High or Med red again, you have to turn the light off, turn it back on, start pushing the button repeatedly, and it takes you first to High White, then Med White, then Low White, and only then will it go to High Red, then Med Red, etc. You can't go up and down at will through the red settings without being forced to go all the way through the White settings. This totally defeats the stealth of Red, especially if you are not careful about where your light is pointing when you cycle through the blindingly bright white settings. This seems like something they should have thought of long ago. Additionally, the battery power level light inside the control button stays ON the whole time you're using the light, giving off a green glow sideways (or red if the battery starts getting low). This is mildly annoying to me, and also totally unnecessary and a waste of battery power in a very small closed system. It should show for about 5 sec when you turn the light on and again when you turn the light off, then be dark the whole time you're using the light. Last, there are 4 very sharp machined aluminum corners on the protective "awnings" above and below the beam bulbs. These things are needlessly sharp and could easily be rounded/softened in the cnc machining process. I'll use it for the red beam brightness, and get used to holding my hand over the lenses when I want to change beam levels, but these are things they should have thought through and addressed a while ago, in my opinion. Definitely room for improvement."

I needed this lamp for

"I needed this lamp for a week of deer hunting in Michigan. When I received the lamp it wouldn’t charge. I watched the video on how to use all the features to make sure I was doing it right and the lamp just wouldn’t charge. Also was disappointed about the plastic shroud and plastic lamp holder that holds the light to the head band. PLASTIC! REALLY! I can’t see that holding up the the freezing cold!"

Bright

"Very bright. Haven’t gotten a chance to test it in the field. Wish you could use normal batteries in it just in case it dies."

My PEAX BC Duo

"The advertisements do not do this headlamp justice. After opening up the box it was already charged for use and reading the instructions on how it works (which was easy) I can say that it exceeds my expectations. Even on the dimmest setting (both the white and green) it is brighter than some of my other headlamps on their high settings. And the green light is very easy on the eyes. I would most certainly recommend this headlamp to any of my friends and family. A great Christmas gift idea to get for those outdoor enthusiasts!"

— Craig M. (5/5)

"Exactly what i was looking for. I needed a red light for moving throught the woods before daylight that’s actually bright enough to see where im walking. This is it."
