Montana Rifle Mule Deer Gear List

When fat-necked mule deer in the Mountain West begin to rut in early November, the experienced rifle hunter will be replacing his 30-degree sleeping bag and uninsulated boots from September archery with gear more favorable to the unpredictable, and often frigid, weather that characterizes late-season hunts in the Rocky Mountains. This list is intended for the hunter wanting to stay warm enough to glass the extra 30 minutes needed to turn up "the big one" on a multi-day adventure far from the trail.
