The Peax Solitude Tarp delivers ultralight, storm-ready coverage for hunters who need fast shelter without hauling extra pounds.
This isn’t just a footprint—it’s a weather barrier, a warmth booster, and a smart upgrade for hunters who actually use their gear in real mountain conditions.
At just 16.5 oz, the Solitude Tarp packs big protection into a small, go-anywhere footprint. Measuring 120" x 104" (10' x 8'8"), it’s built from 20D Silnylon with our long-lasting StormShield™ waterproof coating to shed rain, snow, and wind. VTS (VertTrek Stabilization) keeps the pitch locked tight, while 2mm reflective nylon cordage with Dyneema® and Woojin tensionlocks make for fast, secure adjustments—even in the dark.
Use it as a quick glassing shelter, spike camp cover, or to expand your tipi’s protected space. However you run it, this tarp’s made to disappear in your pack until it’s the one thing you can’t go without.

PEAX Solitude Tarp FAQs
Why carry a tarp for backcountry hunting?
A backcountry hunting tarp provides fast shelter from rain, snow, wind, and sun during long days in the mountains. Hunters often use tarps for glassing cover, emergency weather protection, spike camps, cooking shelters, and gear storage. Lightweight tarps add versatility to a hunting setup while keeping overall pack weight low.
Are ultralight tarps worth it for backpack hunting?
Yes, ultralight tarps offer a strong balance of weather protection, packability, and versatility for backpack hunting. They provide fast shelter options without the bulk of a full tent system and work well for minimalist camps or added protection around existing shelters. Many hunters keep an ultralight tarp in their pack for changing mountain weather and emergency situations.
What makes the PEAX Solitude Tarp different from standard camping tarps?
The PEAX Solitude Tarp is designed specifically for backcountry hunting with lightweight 20D Silnylon construction, StormShield™ waterproof coating, and the VTS stabilization system for improved pitch stability. Reflective Dyneema® cordage and Woojin tensionlocks also help create fast and efficient shelter setup in low-light and stormy conditions. The result is a streamlined tarp system built for demanding mountain environments.
How can the PEAX Solitude Tarp be used in the backcountry?
The PEAX Solitude Tarp works well as a glassing shelter, emergency weather cover, minimalist spike camp shelter, or expanded living space alongside a tipi setup. Its lightweight and compact design make it easy to carry on backpack hunts where versatility matters. Hunters can quickly adapt the tarp to changing terrain and weather conditions throughout a trip.
