The Crispi Altitude GTX was conceived and built with a desire for the breathability and technical fit found in models like the Attiva Mid, combined with the foundation and long lasting comfort of the EFX dual density polyurethane midsole that hunters rely upon when long miles and the occasional heavy load is expected. At Gear Fool we get asked what is the best lightweight and technical boot for hunting and the Altitude GTX is definitely an option we reference to consider.

With a constant and even flexing board last construction (Flex 2.5 rating) and the exclusive Vibram® Megagrip outsole, makes traversing variable terrain a breeze.

Crispi added features like the ultra soft leather and synthetic upper, the Crispi Thermo Wire Technology, and a full PU coated leather rand to ensure the Altitude GTX will endure well whatever hunt or adventure you embark upon. The Altitude GTX is a new kind of hunting boot ready to provide all day comfort, optimal performance, and ground feel that traditional boots haven’t been able to deliver.

Expert Insights

The Altitude GTX is a great option for those who want a bit more rigidity from their midsole, but not too much more as this models hosts a 2.5 Flex Rating. It offers increased breathability (specifically throughout the tongue, which is where most heat generated from within would naturally want to escape) and a more technical fit from heel-to-toe.

CRISPI Altitude GTX Hunting Boot FAQs

What hunting boots are best for early-season hunting?

Early-season hunts often require boots that balance breathability, comfort, and stability for covering long miles in warm conditions. Many hunters prefer boots that offer moderate support without feeling overly stiff. A boot like the Crispi Altitude, for example, combines a breathable upper with a supportive 2.5-flex frame, making it well suited for early-season hunts like archery elk, mule deer, or turkey hunting.

How stiff should hunting boots be for scouting or early-season hunting?

For scouting trips and early-season hunts, many hunters prefer a medium-flex boot that allows natural movement while still providing support on uneven terrain. Boots with moderate stiffness can reduce fatigue during long miles without feeling overly rigid. The Crispi Altitude uses a 2.5-flex stiffness rating, which provides stability for side-hilling and uneven terrain while maintaining comfort for long hikes.

What outsole traction is best for hunting boots?

Good hunting boots typically use outsoles designed to provide traction on rock, dirt, and loose terrain. Vibram® outsoles are widely used in outdoor footwear because they offer reliable grip and durability in demanding conditions. The Crispi Altitude features a Vibram® Megagrip outsole that helps provide traction on steep slopes, rocky ground, and variable terrain.

What type of hunts can you do in lightweight boots?

Lightweight hunting boots are ideal for hunts where mobility and long-distance hiking are common. Many hunters prefer them for activities like turkey hunting, shed hunting, summer scouting, and early archery seasons. The Crispi Altitude was designed specifically for these types of hunts, offering comfort and breathability for active days in the field.
